Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated his country’s commitment to peace, expressing readiness for immediate negotiations to end the ongoing conflict with Russia.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Zelenskyy stated:
“I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. None of us wants an endless war.”
He emphasized that no one desires peace more than the Ukrainian people and confirmed that Ukraine is prepared to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible to reach a lasting resolution.
Call for U.S. Support and Cooperation
Zelenskyy also underscored the importance of U.S. backing, particularly under the next U.S. administration.
“My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.”
This statement signals Ukraine’s willingness to strengthen its partnership with Washington to secure a sustainable peace agreement.
Proposed Steps for De-escalation
Outlining potential measures to ease tensions, Zelenskyy suggested:
- Immediate release of prisoners
- Aerial and naval ceasefire, including a ban on missiles, long-range drones, and bombings targeting energy and civilian infrastructure
- Reciprocal de-escalation from Russia
“We are ready to work fast to end the war,” Zelenskyy affirmed, urging Moscow to respond positively.
Acknowledgment of U.S. Military Assistance
Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude for American military support, particularly the supply of Javelin missiles, which he described as critical to Ukraine’s defense.
“We truly value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence.”
However, he acknowledged that a recent meeting at the White House did not go as expected and called for improved diplomatic engagement.
“It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right.”
Ukraine Ready for Security and Minerals Agreement
Beyond peace talks, Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is ready to finalize agreements on security and mineral resources.
“Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any convenient format.”
He described this deal as a key step toward enhanced security and long-term stability.
